This article was about an ex-tennis star by the name of James Blake who receives an apology from the New York Police Commissioner William Bratton on Thursday, September 10th, 2015. Bratton apologizes to Blake after his identity is mistaken by a NYPD undercover staff who tackles and handcuffs Blake outside a Manhattan hotel in New York on Wednesday, September 9th, 2015. Blake awaited to be picked up to go to the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament when this incident occurred.
I chose this article because I saw NYPD and thought it was another incident like Mike Brown,Trayvon Martin, or Freddie Grey. But, as I was reading the article I learned that race was not the issue here; Blake is bi-racial. The real cause was that his identity was mistaken. I think it's crazy that NYPD keeps having these types of incident and then they think that just an apology is enough to clear the situation.
